Homecoming

Ever since the dear ol' husband has been working at our alma mater, we have attended homecoming in the fall and the formal in the spring. I guess that would make this our eighth year going and I have to say, this year seemed like the most fun! It really is a very family oriented event. There are moon bounces, a live band, trampolines, build-a-boat and, new this year, wagon rides with Clydesdale horses! Also new this year was the Chorale reunion. Well, if you know me at all, you know that is something I just didn't want to miss! Sadly, I have had a cold for the last week so I was unable to sing with all the chorale members of the past, but I was able to go to the rehearsal and listen while they practiced. It brought back some nice memories. Hopefully they will do that again because they had a really great turnout!

After I attended the chorale rehearsal, I ran down to the lake to help hubby with the little one while he prepared for "Build-a-boat." For the last couple years now, they have had this school competition for student groups to build a makeshift boat. Then they have a race on homecoming day and the winner gets a prize. It's actually more enjoyable watching the losing boats floundering around trying to get across the lake. And I definitely feel for anyone that has to go in that water since it is overtaken by dirty geese and the smell is quite lovely...NOT!
Here they are all lined up waiting to put their boats in the water...
Watching :) There was a really large crowd behind me but I didn't take a picture of them!
 And they're off!
These guys in the front ended up winning and they deserved it. They put a lot of work into their boat and practically sailed across the lake. They also got a smoke bomb that they dropped in their tailpipe and it actually looked like they had a motor running, which of course they didn't, because that is against the rules!

 More kid fun!
After lunch we sauntered over to the men's soccer game. This was enjoyable because there were lots of old friends to catch up with but also our school won the match! In addition, K is better at keeping herself occupied and she was happily engaged with our friends' kids.

 Another moon bounce...

I think this is the longest we stayed at homecoming out of all the years we have attended. We got there at 9:30AM and stayed 'til about 5pm! We were actually called on to help clean up!
I can't believe she made it through the whole day without a nap! She was getting tired but they day was so packed with activity there wasn't time for meltdowns!

We got her a donut on the way home and she took a bite, leaned her head over and fell asleep without even chewing, it was still in her mouth! I guess she was tired!

  1. Aww! I remember one time after a fair day that Chase fell asleep with an ice cream cone in his hand. Looks like a fun day!
