Projects, construction, cars, oh my!

Once again, I find time slipping away so I better post before I forget all this stuff!

We have been busy! Here are some of the things going on here:

1. A couple weeks ago, we got toms Honda accord back from the shop and the mechanic told us we were on borrowed time with the transmission and it could go at any time. Also, the timing belt needed to be changed. All this adds up to a lot of repairs on a very old, high mileage car. So we decided to quick look for something before the transmission gave out. We found my dream car, a 2010 Toyota Prius. Hopefully these cars will last us a long time because buying cars is a pain!
Looks a lot like the Honda fit doesn't it? :) Tom was very happy to take over driving the fit to work.

2. Things are going very well with my IDP paper. I just turned in chapter four so I only have one chapter left to write. Everything seems to be lining up for me to be able to graduate on dec 14th. I'll be very excited to have this done!

3. Everything is great with the pregnancy, praise the Lord! I am seen by either a specialist or OB every two weeks and it is a continual comfort to feel the baby moving and kicking in my belly all the time now. I can't wait to hold her! 27 1/2 weeks...

4. Tom has been too busy with his job to work on the basement so we decided to bite the bullet and hire someone to help us finish it. We got a reference from the mil and had someone come out. I really think he underbid our job but we are both so happy with his work, it is looking great! For the last few days I have been busy painting. Next step, carpet, trim, closet doors, finishing touches!

5. Toms Dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He had to have surgery and it seems as though it was a success, except the surgery damaged his prostate and now he has to cathaterize himself every night in order to fully empty his bladder. :( Also, my dear Dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Was so very sad about this for a couple weeks. I guess I needed to grieve what was to come. Sometimes I we'd even wake up in the middle of the night thinking about it and that would make me cry. But I choose to accept the situation and not dwell on what we don't have but be thankful for where Dad is right now, and right now he is ok.

Some of my best memories of being with my Dad are having the opportunity to work alongside him. I always enjoyed doing projects with him and admired his careful work and patience at whatever job we did. I'm also thankful for getting to live at home with him and mom for so long, and the special talks we had on the drive in to work with him every day when we worked at cardone together. He is also the main reason why I started doing choir and that has been a very special group for me. There are so many amazing things about my Dad, I'm going to have to write a special note about him later. :)
