Against all odds

At my most recent appointment last Thursday, the dr checked the baby and everything looked good. Except she was still laying transverse as she has been doing the whole pregnancy. The Dr suggested I consider scheduling a c-section since there would be too much risk to try to turn her and they would not let me labor or try to deliver a transverse baby. So I glumly scheduled a c section for jan 28 at 2:30pm. Then I spent the next several days feeling sorry for myself and a complete basket case emotionally. But as I was leaving my appointment on Thursday, I asked the dr if there was anything I could do to encourage the baby to move head down. She mentioned I could try techniques listed on the website spinningbabies.com but it was not likely at this stage for the baby to turn and not to get my hopes up. No worry there since my hopes were already totally dashed from getting the news I would need a c section. And I had already been trying techniques on that site to no avail. But for whatever reason, I decided to try it again last night (Sunday).

Well, I woke up at 1am this morning and it felt like I was in labor. I had strong, menstrual-like cramping in my lower abdomen and lots of movement from the baby. I went upstairs, got a drink and a snack and waited out the cramping, wondering if it was going to stop or progress to labor. Finally, about an hour and a half later, the cramping and pain subsided and I was able to go back to bed. But it concerned me enough that I decided not to risk it and drop by the dr for a check to make sure everything was ok. Imagine my shock when the on call dr, after feeling my belly, announced that the baby was head down! What?! How was this possible since all the experts told me there was no way the baby would move? Just to make sure, she performed an ultrasound and, sure enough, she was head down. Please pray with me that the baby would stay head down, since at this point, she is not engaged she could still move back to transverse. But today I am thanking God for working a miracle.
