"New" car

I wasn't going to post about this but the circumstances are so crazy I need to write it all down.
So here goes...

In the beginning of June, T hit a deer. He was determined to keep the car but they ended up totaling it. We only paid $3000 for it so when the insurance company offered us $4400 for it I thought we were doing pretty good. Until I started looking for a comparable car and couldn't find one for that price. In talking with my mil, she alerted me to the fact that I could object to the insurance company's first offer. So that's what I did. A few days later, they came back with an offer of $4500. A little better but when I punched in the exact make, model and mileage of our car I was getting a much higher number than that. So I contested the offer again. I was told I would have to find as many "comps" as I could of the exact make, model and relative mileage of the car being sold within 25 miles of our zip code. I found two comps, both over $7000 so I sent those to our insurance company hoping for the best. A few days later, they came back with an offer of $6800 for our totaled car. So I leaned a valuable lesson and that was that you don't have to accept the insurance companies first offer if you have the data to back up your complaint.

While we were dealing with the insurance company, we both decided it was time to get a nicer car, not a brand new one, but one from a dealer that would be certified and would have a warranty. I found a '08 Honda fit with 29000 miles at a dealer in langhorne so we went out, drove it and decided to get it.
I loved this car and had no regrets buying it,  however, when the dealer sold it to us, they couldn't locate the title for some reason. But they were confident it would show up so they let us take it home with dealer tags and all our paperwork signed. I wasn't worried, our first payment was 6 weeks away and i thought since it was a dealer they would have their act together. But as the weeks passed and I had no word, I started to wonder. So I began calling the dealer weekly, asking for an update. Sadly, I always got the same response, that they thought the title would be in "by the end of the week." By the 6 week mark, we still had no title and I was fed up. So I called the general manager. He apologized profusely and let me know he was only made aware of the situation ten days prior. He stated that the situation should never have happened and promised he would call me the next day to "work something out."

The next day he did call and let me know that they could not, in fact sell the car to us and would need it back but as a consolation they wanted to switch us with a 2010 fully loaded Honda fit sport at no extra cost to us!!!! I couldn't believe it. So we went over today and signed papers. The finance lady told me the dealer was losing about $5000 on us but they had to do it because they needed to make it right. Definitely felt like we got a little blessing from The Lord in this whole situation and I am grateful.
My new car :)
