I received word this morning from a dear friend that her baby had died in her womb and they would be inducing her right away. She was 7 months along. I remember when she told me she was pregnant with baby E she had just found out. I was so excited for her! Sadly, when she was only 12 weeks along she found out that the baby had some developmental problems. She was too early in her pregnancy to tell for sure so we just hoped and prayed that the doctors were wrong.
But, as the weeks went on, the evidence kept mounting. We discovered more sad news about baby E. Doctors told my friend her baby had Trisomy 13, along with congenital heart disease and a severe omphalacele. It became clear the baby would not survive once it was born. Since my friend is staunchly pro-life, she would not agree to let the doctors induce her early while the baby inside her still lived. This must have been so hard carrying a baby knowing the whole time that you would not get the privilege of caring for your child. We have cried and laughed together along this journey and I am happy to report that my dear friend delivered naturally and now baby E is in heaven and healed!
