So yet another surgery is coming, this one is scheduled for Dec 19th at 1pm in the surgical center. There will be 2 doctors operating because, as I like to put it, I'm special. I'm not feeling as freaked out about it as I was when I first got the news. I have a lot to be thankful for really. I have a wonderful and supportive family and friends who have been such an anchor for me during this time. I do not have a life threatening disease. I am blessed with good health. I have a husband who loves me and a beautiful 3 year old who I love more than I ever thought possible. I have a roof over my head and good care from doctors, as well belonging to an amazing church.
This morning I had the pleasure of attending a brunch at the home of a sweet lady who goes to my church. She has a knack for decorating and hosting and I have always admired her for this. Well, it was an absolute blast getting to hang out with other like-minded women. Her home was beautiful and the food was amazing, but more than that, I found myself struck by how much I should be thankful for every moment and what I have been given. On my way to the party this morning, I took a detour to pick up a girl who wanted to go to the party but had no way of getting there because she didn't have a car. Because we drove together, I got to find out a little about her life and what I heard made me grateful for what I have been given.
This young married woman has 2 children, one child is 19 months, the other is 8 months. Her husband is a pizza delivery man. They have no insurance and are receiving food stamps. The one car and apartment they live in is being provided for them by her husbands godfather. Her husband is currently paying child support for another child as well as being on probation for who knows what. And to top it off, her husband is a non-medicated bi-polar manic depressive. He claims to know Christ in word but does not attend church or show evidence of fruit. Will you join me in praying for her and her two young children?
