So it's been months since I blogged yet again! Gah! Of course a lot has happened. We have been enjoying our summer. My little k turned 6 months old. She is almost sitting up by herself, rolling all over the floor, smiling and laughing a lot and super kissable!
I was telling a friend that she hadn't gotten her first cold yet...well I guess that was the kiss of death because we sure experienced some interesting sickness in our house over the last week. Last Saturday Kira had a fever, which turned out to be fifth disease. Tuesday, I came down with a virus that felt like the flu. Achy, nauseous, throbbing head that lasted all day. It was a nasty virus that knocked me out for a day. The next day I felt better but noticed a rash on my body.
Next to be affected was poor little k. She got her fever Wednesday. I figured it was a version of what I had so I chose not to give medicine to artificially lower her temperature but rather let her body fight it off. It was her first cold. She also got a rash all over her body. I spent the afternoon on Friday traveling from my doctor to her pediatrician all for both of them to tell me that the rash was simply caused by the virus we had and no cause for concern.
This is my leg!! This rash covered my whole body, as well as little k.
That same weekend, we had a wedding to attend. We had set up child care with a friend but the day before the pediatrician had cautioned me that little k would still be contagious to small children and my friend had small children so we had to pay a babysitter. The going rate in my area is $10 an hour. We were gone 3 1/2 hrs so that worked out to $35! Yikes. This is why we ask family.
We had fun at the wedding though. It was a nice country club and a great opportunity for me to get out of the house after dealing with sickies all week.
If you know our family at all, you know we like to do anything associated with water. This summer we decided to invest in a pool to help big k learn how to overcome her dislike for getting her face wet.
We got an inflatable pool. It popped two times. The second time of returning it to the store, we decided to bite the bullet and get a better pool. Luckily, we bought at the end of the summer season so we got a really nice pool for 50% off.
We live right by the local creek. This was a nice day of floating.
And who could forget big k's 5th birthday party? This took a lot of planning and preparation but I think she really loved it!
